End of the Day

The end of the day
And there's so much left to say
Memories fade away
Wide-eyed for sleep I stay
Night falls in the form of dark blue
Reminiscence of what I could not do-
Shutters are pulled shut to cover
Weary lashes shudder to flutter
Bleary eyes water for elusive slumber
Moonbeams rend a dark sky asunder
Low lit lamp lights darken
Pinprick starlights starken
The end of the day
Finding memories faded away
Shadows bleed from gray to black
A curtain of light rolled back
Sweet sunset savored as a delicate dusk
With star showers rolling in above us
Lights put out to be turned on again
Nightfall allowing moonbeams to shine in
Over and over, around and around
What turns over will again come around
It's the end of the day
Tomorrow knows no delay
